It integrates aspects of computing with subjects such as accounting, marketing, information systems and business strategy to enable individuals to make use of computers to provide solutions for business.

In an age where we are increasingly dependent on computers to deliver information and analysis, businesses require professionals who can build robust, reliable and user-friendly systems that drive organizational solutions. Our BSc (Hons) Business Computing degree will equip you with the necessary skills and knowledge to succeed in this fast-paced industry, with guest lecturers from business organisations sharing their experience with you.

You will also develop broader skills employers value in IT professionals that range from leadership and teamwork to management and problem-solving. The degree will give you a solid foundation in software development, programming web design, databases as well as information systems. You may also choose to specialize in data analytics advanced computer science or marketing.

The course will equip you with a strong understanding of the Windows environment and the use of Windows applications software, including word processing with Word 2002 for Windows, spreadsheets and database management systems, presentation graphics software, and the Internet. The course will also teach you about security and e-commerce.

The majority of the time, seminars and lectures are used to teach, with many courses incorporating computer-based laboratory exercises. You will also be required to conduct independent study and research, both at home and at the university.
